2023 was a whirlwind of conventions, prototyping, and a whole lot of other things.
I haven’t blogged for quite some time, and I apologise – it gets harder and harder to sit down and write about things when there are so many other things going on!
So, I am giving myself a pass for now – and instead of talking about the past, I am going to write about the very near future instead!

GAMA EXPO
I was incredibly fortunate to be selected for the GAMA Horizons Fellowship programme. On the GAMA website, they describe is as an “accelerator for prospective and newly established tabletop game publishers and retail store owners. It was created by GAMA’s Diversity and Inclusion Committee to help address the needs of communities that have been historically underrepresented in the tabletop industry“

Probably the best thing I got from this programme was my mentorship with Curt Covert from Smirk & Dagger. Mentorships are hit-or-miss, especially when they are assigned by a third party, but I was very lucky to get a great match.
George and I were able to ask questions and learn so very much, and Curt has been incredibly generous with his time and knowledge.

Another amazing thing we got out of the programme, above and beyond the much-appreciated grant, was sponsorship to cover the cost of our booth materials from Chip Theory. I understand in principle that this is probably a fairly small expense for a large business, but for this tiny, fledgling game design studio, it is pretty much life-changing. We have gone from wondering if we can really afford to mail our Vistaprint banners to every show, because they don’t fit in a suitcase, to having an amazing set of booth display items from China Flag Makers. These are the photos they sent us of our Bubble Net tablecloths:

And these are the photos they sent us of our incredible 8 x 10 foot backdrop

We were very excited to unbox them – but we don’t have space to set them up, so that’s going to be an adventure we get to have for the first time onsite!
There’s a lot more to talk about, but I will leave that for another post. There’s a lot to catch up, but we have all the time in the world to tell you.
Bubble Net

It’s been a while since we updated you on Bubble Net, and that’s not just because we were working on other game designs – I (Cat) had COVID over the holidays, which wiped me out for weeks. It really put us behind, but we are back on track and making a homemade prototype to give to content creators at GAMA Expo to help us promote our UPCOMING KICKSTARTER!
That’s right – we have finally set a date! We are coming to Kickstarter on June 11th, 2024, and you heard it here first, we will also have a booth at Origins 2024!
Stay tuned for more details on Bubble Net – join our Facebook group if you like!
We would love you to follow our Kickstarter and help us to get seen by that big, mean algorithm – check it out at the link below!
